an ode to leather goods
So yummy in red! My bff has one of these, and I love it. She's promised it to me in her will! I know the days of the status bag are over, but I still love to look at the leather. Am feeling very bored despite the photos from the Paris shows. Nothing is really grabbing me this season. My quest for the perfect handbag began early in life with the school satchel. Over the years, I've carried hundreds of bags, some orthodox, others less so. In my teens, I loved to reclaim unusual containers, like an old-fashioned camera bag with silver clip and red felt interior.
Since puberty, I've been searching for the perfect purse, often to the detriment of my bank balance. J.K. Rowling makes a valid point when she rails against the trade in "overpriced handbags". I'm no fan of rat-sized dogs peeking out of bags that cost more then my first car, but I do love a good purse. Not necessarily expensive: it just needs to be fun, functional and fresh. Part of me loves a glammed up bijoux bag, but I also crave a bag that will tame the chaos. That said, I'm no fan of fussy "a place for everything and everything in its place" handbags.
