My quest for the perfect handbag began early in life with the school satchel. Over the years, I've carried hundreds of bags, some orthodox, others less so. In my teens, I loved to reclaim unusual containers, like an old-fashioned camera bag with silver clip and red felt interior.
Since puberty, I've been searching for the perfect purse, often to the detriment of my bank balance. J.K. Rowling makes a valid point when she rails against the trade in "overpriced handbags". I'm no fan of rat-sized dogs peeking out of bags that cost more then my first car, but I do love a good purse. Not necessarily expensive: it just needs to be fun, functional and fresh. Part of me loves a glammed up bijoux bag, but I also crave a bag that will tame the chaos. That said, I'm no fan of fussy "a place for everything and everything in its place" handbags.
